Yoga Therapy
Restorative Yoga Therapy is a way to become more embodied i.e to create more awareness of being in our body and feeling a sense of safety there; feeling more at home in our body. By gradually creating more safety it increases our resilience to life's stressors and to help process previous traumas.

When we experience a situation that felt beyond our capacity to process at the time, the energy of that experience becomes trapped in our body creating 'stuckness' or dis-ease. When we experience chronic stress or overwhelm our nervous system becomes maladaptive and it can lead to symptoms such as hyper-vigilance, hyper-sensitivity, disassociation or numbness. It can also create physical symptoms such as IBS, tension, chronic pain or auto-immune disease.

The yoga therapy that I have been trained in is trauma-informed and with practices that help support the female body. Feminine energy moves in waves, circles and spirals and moving in this way softens the tissues releasing tension and pain.
Modern postural yoga has become commodified in the West and is overly focussed on appearance and what the body can do following a prescribed sequence of postures. Embodied feminine yoga therapy is different in that it is focussed on the unique process of a person and how that process is unfolding following body sensations, feelings and metaphors.

I have recently completed the formal training with my teacher, Sophia Ansari, but I am in the process of completing case studies in order to fully qualify.

What happens during a session?

Sessions involve using bolsters, weighted blankets, heat pads and cushions. I am trained to use touch therapeutically and can be used respectfully and appropriately alongside Reiki if agreed.

The first session is the initial consultation which involves gathering information, creating an intention and deciding whether we are a good match to work together. The following 2-3 sessions we build on that intention, creating trust in the therapeutic relationship and attuning to your nervous system.

Ideally I would recommend a minimum of 12 weekly sessions as we build slowly and consistently. Since I am completing my case studies while finishing my training I require a commitment and dedication to help me achieve these. As such the sessions are low cost - £25 per session to cover the room hire charges.
